Almost there!

Hi to all my get fit friends!  I wanted to remind you that tomorrow is the last day of our first challenge!  :)  You will need to email me your ending weight so a winner can be determined!  You also need to email me your % lost - thanks to Melissa for giving me this formula to figure that out!


((IW-AW)/IW) x 100= weight loss percentage
In this formula IW is your initial weight and AW is your actual weight at this point.
It's not as complicated as it initially seems: practically all you do is subtract the actual weight from the initial weight and divide the number obtained by your initial weight. Multiply the result with 100 and you'll get the exact percent.
 Can't wait to hear how you all did!

Keeping Up

First of all - here's a big SORRY for not showing up for a few days.  I have been SO sick.  Still am but finally got myself out of bed.  I hope you all are hanging in there and doing well.  Better then me I hope.  Being sick has meant a bad start off to this thing - but I can't wait to be better and get exercising, eating better etc.

So how are you all doing on giving up your one thing?  That's part of our first challenge.  I am happy to say that I haven't slipped once - and I am loving the baby steps we are taking.  I know that if I had given up everything (like I usually try to do) I would have failed by now.  It's so much easier to let one or two things go at a time.  Are you finding it to be the same?

I am posting a PUSHER for Thanksgiving day and Friday.  You probably wont like me for this one - but here it is: PASS on ONE Thanksgiving day food item that you know is yummy, but oh so bad for you!  :)  Will it be rolls?  Sweet Potato Casserole?  I am adding Friday into this PUSHER also - because of the leftovers!!!  Let us know what you had the strength to pass on in the comments section!

Lastly, I wanted to encourage those who have not yet signed up for the Calorie Counter online to do it!!!!!  It's SO awesome.  And Free.  Can't beat that!  I don't have time to get onto the computer every time I eat to log something, so I got myself a nifty wipe board ($2 at walmart) and write it all down, then log @ night.

Day One - Complete

Hey guys!  You did it!  Day One is OVER!  And that was probably not your roughest day...but you started it and are headed in the right direction!  Yea! Oh! And have you signed up for your calorie counter account? (see the "easy calorie counting" tab above for the link.  I am IN LOVE with it.  It's database of foods is awesome - I just have to put in what I ate - no looking up the calories.  Give it a try...you will love it too!

So...our challenge right now is to give up at least one thing from your diet that you know is "naughty".  I am curious as to what you all chose!  (and how it went for the first day!)  Leave a comment on this post to tell everyone what you gave up.  And remember, Days 3&4 usually become the hardest...but stick with it!  When those tough days pass, you'll be feeling SO much better!

Is it too early for a PUSHER?  I don't think so...for the next 3 days, when you go places I want you to park as far away from the door as you can.  (convenient, nope! But burns extra calories - so YIPEE!)  That's right - walk a little more...burn a little more.  HAVE FUN! (a good attitude goes a long way!)

Ready...Set...GO!!!

It's officially starting day!  I wish you all the best of luck on your first few days of the challenge.  (The first few are always the toughest, huh?)  Remember our "baby steps" plan, so just tell yourself to make it thru TODAY and you'll do great! 

Wanted to let you know that it has been decided to decide on the winners by % lost, NOT by lbs.  This will make it fair for everyone - considering we all have different weights and goals.  So...on the last day of this first challenge I will post the formula to figure out your %

We officially have 14 people signed up for this first challenge - I am SO excited!  Only 3 guys...so maybe in a few months we'll have to have a guy vs. gals contest.  :)  If you know of anyone else interested, they can join us at any time.

You CAN do it!

Remember the movie "What About Bob?"  :)  "Baby steps to the door, baby steps to the elevator, baby steps to bus..."  We are doing weight loss, What About Bob style!  :)  It will be all about the "baby steps!" 

Have you ever thought about what makes it so hard to shed those unwanted pounds?  Is it giving up certain foods?  Is it the thought of exercising every day?  Is it knowing that it will take 12 months before you find the body you lost somewhere around your second year of college?  Stop thinking it's too much and that you can't do it because YOU CAN!!!

You CAN do it!  We just need to trick our brains a bit.  We will be giving you small challenges to focus on for a short amount of time.  Don't tell yourself it will take 12 months - no way!  Tell yourself you cannot eat that TODAY ONLY.  Tell yourself you only have to do light exercising for 5 days.  You know the famous quote "One Day At A Time" - use it.  Write it on your mirror - hang it on your fridge - anywhere you need!  Cause you all need to worry about is TODAY.  A lot of today's will add up.

WHY NOW???

So, a few people have asked - why start now?  It's almost the holidays?

Well - this time of year usually becomes "pig out season" - we believe that if you have a challenge on your mind, you wont indulge as much as you normally would.  If you go thru this holiday season and pack on 10 more lbs, you will have that much more to loose.  Not fun.  So we will be offering encouragement, PUSHERS, and ideas for getting thru this holiday season - still enjoy what you'd like, just in smaller amounts.

Nope - you do not have to suffer thru your holidays - that's not why we're doing this.  In fact, we will have a reward for those who can maintain their weight over Christmas.  Our expectations aren't unreal here.  :)  We have promised fun...we have promise it will be easy.  Now...you have no excuse.  :)  Join us!
